Wirt, Mildred A. [Benson] THE GIRL SCOUTS AT PENGUIN PASS Or Trail of the Snowman. New York: Cupples & Leon Company, (c. 1953.) Hardcover

First or early printing (no other titles listed in the book) The first book in a relatively uncommon later series by the author best known as the original writer of the Nancy Drew series. Only 3 books were produced in this series, since in 1957 the Scouts refused to allow the name to be used on books - although, one would think that they would welcome books such as this: by using the device of having 13 year old Judy join the Girl Scouts (specifically a Girl Scout Ski Patrol group), Wirt is able to include much of the philosophy and the code of scouting in the story. Illustrated by Marguerite Geyer. 218 pp. Good only with some fraying to the ends of the spine, fading to the back cover, prev owner's name, etc.) .
