A story of China in the 1860's as the author remembers it when she was a little girl there: the daughter of an American consul. Among the topics included in the story is an account of the long trip by sailing ship, life in Canton and Macau, the story of Buddha, and more. A charming story, illustrated by Louse Clasper Rumeley with black and white drawings, a lovely color frontispiece. 205 mpgs, illustrated endpapers. This copy is INSCRIBED by the author "off to China with Betty and Billy!" Very good+ in a very good dustjacket (the fragile dustjacket is showing some edgewear and rubbing, but is overall in very attractive condition, with the front cover repeating the lovely frontispiece illustration of tw small children under a large paper parasol, pc.) A lovely copy of this uncommon book. .
