Sutton, Margaret. THE HAUNTED ATTIC: A Judy Bolton Mystery #2. New York: Grosset & Dunlap, (c. 1932.) Hardcover

Very early printing from 1933. The Boltons have moved into a large old house with a reputation for being haunted - A very early printing (just one year after the first printing) of this second book in the series. Bound in lime green cloth, thicker format, pink endpapers with Judy on the stairs holding a flashlight, illustrated by Pelagie Doane with a glossy frontispiece and 3 glossy internals. Front flap and the back cover both list the first 5 books in this series, rear flap lists to Nancy Drew #8. Back of the book only lists 4 Bolton titles. Photograph of Sutton and brief biographical comments on back cover of the dustjacket (unlike Carolyn Keene - a house name which disguised many authors, including Mildred Wirt Benson - Sutton was a real person writing under just one name.) 212 pp plus 3 pp of advertisements. Purple topstain. Near fine in very good+ dust jacket (two gift inscriptions: one hidden under the front flap and dated in 1933, the other dated in 1939. The dustjacket, with a white spine, has some rubbing and a litle loss of paper at the upper end of the spine and corner folds, but overall is in unusually nice and attractive condition.) Uncommon to have such an early printing in a dustjacket. .
