Seaman, Augusta Huiell SECRET OF TATE'S BEACH New York: The Century Co., (1926). Hardcover First Edition

First printing. Novel set on the remote New Jersey coast. Despite the fact that this had several printings, it remains one of Seaman's more difficult to find titles in any edition, and especially difficult in both the first edition and in dust jacket. It is also an interesting and popular story which involves 2 shipwrecks - one long ago, and one 18 years before the time of the story - and a lost treasure. Illustrated by C. M. Relyea with a frontispiece and 3 glossy plates (as a side comment, a couple of the plates show our young heroine on the beach in dainty high heeled pumps; the more realistic story has the girls changing into their 'tie-ups' before venturing off.) Bound in tan cloth with black lettering and illustration with a green background on front cover and spine. 306 pp. Very good+ in very good- dust jacket. The popularity of Seaman's books means that it is uncommon for the earlier titles to be found in dustjacket at all, and it is rare to find a first printing with the dustjacket present and the book in such good condition. Just a little wear to the edges of the boards, slight hint of spine slant, previous owners' names i(partly in pencil). Dust jacket has some overall edgewear, especially at the ends of the spine, tear and some loss of paper along the lower back side of spine, wear at corners. .
