Uncorrected proof. The first comprehensive study on the effects of hallucinogenics (specifically LSD-25 and peyote) on human personality - the focus here is the effects on 'normal' (not mentally disturbed), average people, and on the possiblity of self-actualization rather than therapy. Based on 15 years of first-hand observations of 206 drug sessions and interviews with another 214 people. The extremely uncommon pre-publication proof - in the typical format of such early 60's issues (not like modern day Advance Reading copies or uncorrected proofs which are just like trade paperbacks) - tall & skinny with a comb binding - and a notation about being printed by Crane, in Barnstable on Cape Cod on the first page (the nickname for these early advance issues was "cranes") - the typesetting is completely different: 237 pp vs 326 pp for the hardcover. Good+ condition - It almost seems appropriate that this is not in mint condition - the pale blue paper front cover has some cofffee rings from the book being used as a coaster plus a little fading and wear. Contents clean and very readable. . |
