Although life on shipboard, as told from the perspective of the two children of the captain, is much idealized, this is an still interesting and enjoyable book. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 2 plates by Thomas Nast, with the frontispiece being an amusing picture of the discovery of a little black girl, a stowaway, who calls herself 'Wooly Butts.' A title in the 'Mayflower Series for Girls.' 221 pages plus 6 pages of advertisements. Very good+ in tan cloth covers with a red illustration on the front cover and spine, gold title panel on the spine and a silver panel with Mayflower series on the front cover. A nice tight copy with only minor shelfwear to the edges of the boards, gift inscription in pencil on the front endpaper presenting this book to a pupil from his teacher. .
