CONNOR MAGAN'S LUCK.

Edition: Early printing.

Boston: D. Lothrop & Company, Franklin St., Corner of Hawley, (c 1881.). Hardcover - The title story is a genuinely charming, if unabashedly sentimental, tale of a young boy, the son of Irish immigrants, living in a shanty town between the banks of the Ohio River and the railroad tracks. Connor has inherited both his mother's indefatigable optimism and the quiet courage of his father, a brakeman for the railroad. This story was apparently bound with varying other stories - this volume includes 'Miss West's Class Talks About Words,' 'How Jonathan Ran Away From School' and 'Surprised.' Illustrated with a frontispiece (which refers to a story not included in the book), a decorative title page, 5 full page plates and several smaller entexte drawings (some signed by C. R. Lord and J. G. Francis, others unsigned.) Unpaginated [50 pp.] A small slim volume measuring just 7 1/8 by 4 7/8 inches, bound in gray cloth with red and gilt illustration on front cover, lettering in gilt (title is misspelt on front cover as 'Magin's') Previous owner's name dated Christmas 1884.

Condition: Very good condition - some soiling to the covers and minor shelfwear, front hinge starting, but appealing, sturdy and still very easily readable.
