Glasgow is considered one of the first writers to break away from the romantic sentimentality of the traditional Southern novel and to write with clear realism. As such she is considered an essential bridge to later Southern writers like Faulkner and Carson McCullers.

Condition: Very good+ in a very good- dustjacket with some chipping and a little loss of paper at the ends of the spine, some short edge tears, but still reasonably attractive. Rather uncommon in dustjacket.
